Beyond TikTok: What Parents Need to Know
|
Given recent uncertainties surrounding TikTok’s availability, many young users are exploring alternative platforms such as RedNote and Lemon8. RedNote, originating from China, emphasizes music and video content, drawing comparisons to Instagram. Similarly, Lemon8, developed by ByteDance (TikTok’s parent company), merges features reminiscent of Pinterest and Instagram.
Despite their growing popularity, these platforms present privacy and data security challenges like those associated with TikTok. Experts advise parents to exercise caution, emphasizing the importance of reviewing app privacy policies and understanding the extent of data collection. Given that these apps may lack comprehensive safety measures, it is recommended to delay their use until robust protections are established. Fostering open discussions with teens about online safety and digital footprints can safeguard their online experiences.
Overall, while new social media platforms may offer appealing features, it’s crucial for parents to remain vigilant and proactive in ensuring their children’s online safety.

Ring the Bell!
Celebrating Success
|
|
|
Congratulations to our newest teachers who have earned a designation under the Teacher Incentive Allotment program from the Texas Education Agency!
In 2024, 5 teachers were designated, and this year SEVEN more teachers have been added to the list, bringing our total to 12 TIA-designated teachers!
This designation is reserved for the most effective teachers, recognizing those who demonstrate outstanding instructional impact and student growth. This achievement reflects the dedication, talent, and hard work of our educators in delivering excellence in the classroom.
We are proud of all of our teachers at BISD and their commitment to student success. We look forward to seeing this list grow in the coming years.
