Why should my child attend Baird ISD?
We offer a variety of academic, athletic, and career & technical education options to personalize and enhance your child’s education. Our mission is to provide a high-quality educational environment that is uniquely tailored to your student’s interests and meets a high standard for college and career-prep expectations. As a small district, we are able to offer small classes and individual attention to each student. We offer multiple degree options and a highly qualified staff. Students at Baird ISD are able to participate in a wide range of extracurricular activities, including athletics, music and band, and UIL academics.
Dual Credit Program
Through our partnership with Cisco College, students at Baird High School are able to earn college credits beginning in the 9th grade. Our dual credit academic program is designed to allow a motivated student to complete the core curriculum prior to graduation from high school, and some of our graduates have earned associates degrees by the end of their senior year. Parents pay no tuition costs for students enrolled in our dual credit program. See our College Credit page for details on these and other programs.
Career and Technology
We offer multiple courses of study in career and technology programs, including a dual-credit welding program taught by certified instructors. In the Fall semester of 2022, we opened the door on a new 8500 square feet, state-of-the-art welding facility See our Career and Technology page for more details.
Transfer Students
Baird ISD is an open transfer district. We accept transfers from out-of-district students on a continuous basis for students from pre-kindergarten to grade 12. Transfer students are held to the same high standards, achievement, leadership, and respect as all of our students.
Transportation to Baird ISD is generally provided by the student’s parent, but could be provided by the District depending on the specific circumstances.
The first step to become a Bear is to read the Transfer Agreement (attached below) and complete the Non-Resident Student Transfer Application. If the transfer application is approved, you will receive an email with information regarding enrollment procedures. For questions, please contact our campus principals. Parents of students in grades 6 – 12, should contact the high school principal, James Stevens, 325-854-1400, extension 301.
