PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENT OF REFERRAL PERIOD
Baird ISD is now accepting referrals for students who may need Gifted/Talented Services for the school year. This program is designed for students who exhibit intellectual and creative thinking abilities at an extraordinary level, not normally served in the regular classroom. Services are provided only upon identification of the educational needs of the student. Anyone wishing to refer a student attending Baird ISD, in kindergarten through twelfth grade, this school year is asked to fill out the online referral form. This form must be returned to the school by December 13. Those unable to fill out the form online should call 325-854-1400 ext. 105 to request a form be sent to them.

Baird ISD está aceptando referencias para estudiantes que puedan necesitar servicios de Gifted/Talented (programa para estudiantes que tengan talentos/inteligencia más alta que sus iguales) para el año escolar. Este programa está diseñado para estudiantes que muestran habilidades intelectuales y habilidades inventivas de nivel extraordinario que normalmente no se sirve en las clases regulares. Los servicios son prestos únicamente cuando hay identificación de necesidades educativas del estudiante. Cualquiera persona que quiera referir a un estudiante en grados de kinder hasta el grado duodécimo dentro del Distrito Escolar de Baird ISD, puede ir por la oficina de las escuela del estudiante para pedir una copia de la forma de registro. Esta forma necesita ser devuelto a la escuela para el dia 13 de Deciembre. Personas que no puede ir por la escuela deben de llamar a 325-854-1400 ext 105 para pedir que se le envíe la forma.
Baird Independent School District provides a gifted and talented program that is academic in nature and is designed to enhance the educational opportunities for students exhibiting exceptional academic abilities. Scheduling of program activities will be established and coordinated through the GT Coordinator in collaboration with campus administration and teachers to fully maximize the opportunities for each gifted student.

Per the Texas State Plan for the Education of Gifted/Talented Students, Section 1.5.1C: Data collected from multiple sources for each area of giftedness served by the district are included in the assessment process for gifted/talented services (19 TAC §89.1(2)).
BISD will utilize a universal screener for all kindergarteners in the district to identify those who are potentially gifted. If any indicators are present, the student will be referred for further testing.

Information for transfer students, who were identified as Gifted by their previous district, will be reviewed throughout the year based on when the student transferred into the district and when the identification information is received from the prior district.

To follow the Texas Education Agency State Plan for Giftedness, Baird ISD will be conducting a Gifted and Talented screening test of all Kindergarten and 6th grade students regardless of race, religion, or disability. Please allow for your student to go through this screening process. Please complete this form by December 8, 2023. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the Baird ISD Gifted and Talented District Coordinator, Mrs. Troyce Williams at her direct extension 325-854-1400, ext 105. If you filled out a referral form for your child already, you do not need to complete this form.
