The jazz band is a newly formed group this year that will be performing jazz standards such as Woodchoppers Ball, My Funny Valentine, Careless Whisper, Soul Bossa Nova (Austin Powers Theme), and Watermelon Man.

High School Band will be playing music from their UIL Concert evaluation as well as a few others such as Spirit of the Stallion(Changing beat patterns), Monster Under The Bed(Whirly tubes flying in the air!), and our marching show for next year entitled Heist!

Purple Up!

Our very first "Purple Up!" day was a success. Most of the elementary students wore purple on Friday, 4/11 to honor military kids who also make sacrifices for our country by sharing their parents and other family members with our armed services!

Tech Tips for Families

navaltert - dangerous tiktok trend involving gel-filled toys

TikTok Challenge

A new TikTok challenge is putting kids at risk by encouraging them to freeze or microwave gel-filled stress balls, like NeeDoh toys, to change their texture. This can cause the toys to explode, leading to serious injuries.

In one case, a 7-year-old girl suffered severe burns and had to be placed in a medically induced coma after a toy burst in her hands.

Recommendations for Parents:
  • Discuss Online Challenges: Talk to children about the potential dangers of participating in viral trends, especially those involving modifications to household items or toys.
  • Monitor Online Activity: Keep an eye on the content children are accessing on platforms like TikTok and YouTube to ensure they aren't exposed to hazardous challenges.
  • Promote Open Communication: Encourage children to ask questions and share information about trends they encounter online before attempting them.

By staying informed and fostering open dialogues, we can help protect children from the risks associated with dangerous social media challenges.
